TaylorMade RBZ Speedlite Set Men

The RBZ Speedlite is a complete golf set option available in both graphite and steel shafted clubs. Keep in mind that the steel shaft will refer to the irons only. The shaft is still graphite in the fairway woods, hybrid, and driver.
However, there are a few basic features that you will need to be aware of to ensure that this is the right set for you.

  • Very easy to hit, golf clubs get plenty of height
  • Nice aesthetics, good looking set of clubs
  • Great set makeup, won’t need to add any equipment
  • Low center of gravity on all golf clubs
  • Good longevity and durability from this set
  • Available for both right and left handed players
  • Shaft Flex: senior or regular
  • Shaft Material: Graphite or Steel
  • Available as either an 11 or a 13 piece set

What’s Included

The first thing to check with any complete set is what clubs are included in the set. The RBZ Speedlite set includes a driver, 3-wood, 5-wood, 4-hybrid, 5-hybrid, irons (6-9), a pitching wedge, a sand wedge, a putter, and a cart bag. The combination is geared towards covering most situations on the course, providing a well-rounded experience for those getting into the game or looking to upgrade from older equipment.

The RBZ Speedlite is very close to a full set (offered with either 11 or 13 piece sets), with more clubs than most beginner options on the market. The only other sets that include this many clubs would be from Cobra.
Clubs included in the 13 piece complete set:

  • Driver
  • 3 Wood
  • 5 Wood
  • 4 Hybrid (TaylorMade refers to as 4 Rescue)
  • 5 Hybrid (TaylorMade refers to as 5 Rescue)

Driver and Fairway Woods

3 clubs: RBZ SpeedLite Set driver & 2 hybrids

The TaylorMade RBZ Speedlite driver is lightweight, has a large 460cc titanium head and aerodynamic shape promoting faster swing speeds and making it easier to achieve longer drives. The ultralight 50g RBZ shaft is great for newer players with slower swing speeds.  However, the driver has been noted to produce a higher launch with more spin than some might prefer, which could lead to a loss in distance for more advanced players or players with faster swing speeds. The driver with its low CG placement and Speed Pocket combine to deliver optimal launch and enhanced forgiveness.

With the TaylorMade RBZ Speedlite set, you also get two woods. These fairway woods resemble the original RocketBallz fairway woods which is not surprising since TaylorMade says that they took that RocketBallz revolutionary technology and repackaged it into these lightweight 180cc clubhead designed to launch with ease.

The low CG on these fairway woods encourages a higher flight, while the Speed Pocket provides more face flex and greater performance on shots struck low on the face

Golf Circuit found these fairway woods have plenty of loft. Don’t shy away from the fact that this is a 3 wood.

Hybrids and Irons

2 clubs: RBZ SpeedLite Set 1 hybrid & iron

One of the main reasons we wanted to test the RBZ Speedlite was the hybrid and iron combo. Many beginner sets like this give you one hybrid and a few irons while leaving out wedges.

We’ve always found it easy to add an extra fairway wood into the bag, but finding matching irons is a much different story.
The RBZ has two hybrids that will probably end up being your favorite part of the golf club set. Their lightweight construction promotes faster swing speeds. They should help give you the confidence and versatility to take on any shot. The versatile sole design of the hybrids produces high launching shots off the tee, in the fairway, or from the rough. We found them incredibly easy to hit out of the rough.

With the iron set, you will get cavity-back irons with a perimeter-weighted club head. The result is that is very easy to get your ball into the air due to the concentrated mass near the sole of the club that results in a lower CG. Just so you know: lower CG results in a higher launch of your ball. The multi-function sole geometry design of the irons provides added playability from various lies and smooth turf interaction.

Most beginner golfers struggle with getting the ball off the ground, and TaylorMade incorporated all the technology necessary to make that happen every time.

Wedge and Putter

2clubs: RBZ SpeedLite Set wedge & putter

The wedges in this bag include a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. Considering this is a set geared at beginners, we were impressed with the spin from these classically shaped wedges with their high-volume grooves designed for improved spin and control around the greens.

We always like it when golf club sets for beginners are made to help players get the ball close to the hole. The short game is so important, but it’s often overlooked in a complete set. Variety of conditions, from tight lies to bunker shots.

As forgiving and as easy to hit as these golf clubs were, the putter still ended up being my favorite club in the bag.

The putter is a modern mallet design with flanges at the sides promoting more stability for smoother, dependable rolls to the target. The impressive Pure Roll technology that TaylorMade is so good at incorporating is implemented in the face. Whether you are new to the game or just an occasional golfer, you will have no issues using this club to roll your ball toward the hole every time.
We found the putter to be great with both alignment and distance control.

Golf Bag

The TaylorMade RBZ Speedlite set also includes a lightweight cart bag. The bag itself is nice, but you must ensure you are a golfer who likes to ride the course. It’s not a bag you will want to walk with.
If you like to ride (or even use a push cart), the bag has 8 pockets, a 14 way top, and a clean and modern look. In fact, the design characteristics of this entire set help it stand out from other options in this category.

The set also covers all the necessary clubs, so beginners can focus on developing their skills without needing to invest in additional equipment.
  • Forgiveness: The set is designed with beginner-friendly features that emphasize forgiveness, which is crucial for new golfers who are still working on consistent ball striking. The perimeter weighting and cavity-back irons help reduce the impact of mishits, making the clubs more forgiving and enabling beginners to achieve decent results even when their swing is not perfect
  • Lightweight Design: The RBZ SpeedLite clubs are lightweight, making them easier to swing for women, particularly those with slower swing speeds. This helps with both distance and control, which are common challenges for beginners.
  • High Launch: The clubs are engineered to promote a higher launch angle, which helps beginner golfers get the ball in the air more easily. This feature is particularly beneficial for women who may struggle with low ball flights. The higher trajectory also helps with distance and accuracy.
  • Comprehensive Set: The RBZ SpeedLite set includes everything a beginner needs, from a driver and woods to hybrids, irons, wedges, and a putter. This comprehensive package eliminates the guesswork involved in selecting individual clubs and ensures that beginner women golfers have a well-balanced set to cover every shot on the course.
  • Ease of Use: The clubs in the set are designed for ease of use. The fairway woods and hybrids, in particular, are easy to hit, even for those new to the game. Their lightweight construction and generous sweet spots help beginners get the ball airborne more consistently.

The main differences between the men’s and women’s TaylorMade RBZ SpeedLite sets lie in the length, weight, and shaft flex of the clubs. Women’s sets typically have shorter, lighter shafts with more flex to accommodate slower swing speeds. Additionally, the grips are usually smaller to better fit women’s hands.
