What Is A Sunday Golf Bag?

A Sunday golf bag is a smaller lightweight golf bag designed to hold about 6 to 8 golf clubs.

Sunday golf bags are used when players are new to the game and don’t have much equipment, are traveling, or heading out for a few holes on a Sunday afternoon.

Sunday golf bags are small in size, but they are functional and serve a purpose for golfers.

Top 7 Best Sunday Golf Bags 2023

Best Overall Sunday Golf Bag: Sunday Golf Lightweight Bag

Key Features

  • Only weighs 1.95 pounds
  • Accommodates about 7 clubs
  • Dividers
  • Carry handle
  • Comes with strap

The best overall Sunday golf bag is the Sunday Golf Lightweight Bag.

Sunday Golf has been around for several years. They are dedicated to making it easier to play just a few holes with a lightweight and easy-to-use golf bag.

One of the things I liked most about this bag is the fact that it can easily accommodate about seven clubs, but it only weighs 1.95 pounds.

The bag comes with a stand which is not something you will see on every Sunday bag, and as long as you don’t overload the pockets and the top, the stand holds up just fine.

Inside the golf bag, you will notice there are a few pockets for valuables like a rangefinder and golf balls and tees.

You won’t be able to bring all your gear, but that’s not the point of a Sunday bag.

The strap on the bag is comfortable, so if you decide to play a full 18 holes, the bag won’t make it too uncomfortable.

Pros

  • Great stability
  • Convenient and comfortable carry strap
  • Several pockets for storing gear
  • Holds 6-7 golf clubs easily
  • Less than two pounds

Cons

  • The design is rather basic; check out Sunday Golf Loma for more patterns/colors

Best Cheap Sunday Golf Bag: Orlimar Pitch and Putt Sunday Golf Bag

Key Features

  • Great Price
  • Two-Way Compartment
  • Holds 5-6 clubs

The best cheap Sunday golf bag is the Orlimar Pitch and Putt Sunday Golf Bag.

If you are still on the fence about whether or not a Sunday golf bag would be a good fit for your game, this is a smart investment.

The bag will hold five or six clubs comfortably, and there is a two-compartment top that helps separate the clubs.

The Orlimar Pitch and Putt is a bag we found to be incredibly low in price.

In fact, if you are a new player thinking about taking up the game and want to start practicing with just a few clubs, this Orlimar Pitch and Putt Sunday Golf Bag is a great option to consider.

You will only get one accessory pocket when it comes to storage, so be smart about what you are bringing with you out on the golf course.

Overall the Orlimar Pitch and Putt golf bag is a perfect solution for a pitch and putt.

I had no issues fitting the wedges, putter, and a few short irons (like a 9 iron) to easily work on the short game.

Pros

  • Two-compartment top helps keep clubs separated
  • The carry handle is durable
  • A larger opening accommodates at least six clubs

Cons

  • Only one pocket, the organization is tough

Best Premium Sunday Golf Bag: Titleist Carry Bag

Key Features

  • Full length apparel pocket
  • Very lightweight
  • Rather large

If you are a serious golfer, chances are you know that Titleist golf products usually end up in the premium category.

Titleist makes a lot of golf clubs and products designed for the lower handicapped serious golfer.

I always notice that Titleist sometimes keeps the features to a minimum and just focuses on functionality; this is not bad.

The Titleist Carry Bag may not be advertised as a Sunday golf bag, but that is exactly what it is.

This bag has no stand, no heavy features, and it is the most lightweight golf bag in the entire Titleist lineup.

You can take this lightweight golf bag with you when you head to the range or travel.

I really liked the full-length apparel pocket that you get with the Titleist carry bag; it is a great place to store a rain jacket should you have to golf in the rain

Some Sunday golf bags do not have more oversized pockets like this.

If you are that golfer that wants to try and stuff 10 or 12 clubs in a Sunday bag, the Titleist Carry Bag can be a good choice.

We tested that out, and although the golf clubs fit, we don’t know how good it is for them.

Also, the bag gets a bit heavy with just the single carry strap. Stick to the 6 or 7 clubs to get the most out of your golf bag.

Pros

  • Full-length apparel pocket
  • Very lightweight golf bag
  • A total of four pockets
  • Long-lasting material

Cons

  • No stand saves weight but means you will lay the bag in the grass from time to time

Best Sunday Golf Bag for Travel: Big Teeth Lightweight Sunday Bag

Key Features

  • Weighs less than a pound
  • Great for travel
  • Waterproof

Sometimes traveling with all of your clubs is a major headache.

You risk something happening to the clubs and becoming damaged, but there are also times when you really don’t need all of them.

Sometimes having your driver, a few wedges, and a putter with you is enough to be able to play a great round at any course.

I recommend trying out the Big Teeth Lightweight Sunday Bag if you are heading out of town.

This bag can hold about 7-10 clubs comfortably, and there are some smaller pockets for the basic golf accessories.

The bag is waterproof, so it will keep your clubs from getting too wet wherever you store them. In addition, the bag weighs just a pound.

The thing that makes this the perfect golf bag for travel is the zippered top.

You can get all of your gear in the bag, zip the top, and then put this in the car, camper, truck, or trailer in a small space area.

Anyone who has ever tried to take a road trip with a few sets of clubs knows how much room takes up in the car.

For on-course functionality, this golf bag was not our favorite.

It works just fine, but it does not have the stand, and the carry strap is nothing that will win it any awards.

However, for those who travel often, this will hold 7-10 clubs, making it a really great choice for golfers to consider.

Pros

  • It comes in a variety of colors
  • Zippered top to keep the gear in place
  • Few small pockets
  • The perfect solution to condense golf gear when traveling

Cons

  • On the course, usability is not as good as some other options on our list

Best Sunday Golf Bag With Stand: Sunday Golf Loma Bag

Key Features

  • One of the most lightweight golf bags
  • Stylish
  • Comes with a stand
  • Can hold 6-7 clubs

We told you Sunday Golf was a new young company with some great solutions for players.

The Sunday Golf Loma Bag is one of the most lightweight Sunday stand bags on the market, and this one is also rather stylish.

This was the Sunday bag that we thought had the best-looking design and had great functionality with the stand.

The Sunday Golf Loma accommodates six to seven of our clubs with ease.

It could be hard to get that 7th club in the bag if you have large grips.

I really liked the bag’s pockets and the addition of the cooler pouch.

When using a Sunday golf bag, you will be walking the golf course; it makes sense to have water along for the walk.

If you are going to try and stuff this bag with nine or ten golf clubs, you may notice some issues with the stand.

However, we had no trouble getting the bag to stay standing up in the six to seven club range.

The bottom line is that if you want a great-looking Sunday golf bag with a strong stand, the Sunday Golf Loma is a perfect choice.

Pros

  • It comes with a durable stand
  • Easily holds 6-8 golf clubs
  • Several pockets for better organization
  • Drink pouch

Cons

  • Priced a little higher than other Sunday golf bags

Best Sunday Golf Bag For Walking: Cobra Ultralight Sunday Bag

Key Features

  • Great for walking
  • Has the best strap
  • Great organizer
  • Mesh beverage pocket

Most of the time, when playing with a Sunday golf bag, you will be walking the golf course.

However, if you plan to walk for 18 holes and use this bag to get you through, the Cobra Ultralight Sunday Bag is the best choice.

Of all the bags we tested, the strap system and functionality of the Cobra Ultralight made it the best overall choice for walking.

Of course, this bag is a little bigger than some of the others on our list, so it can tend to be a bit heavier; however, it is still much more lightweight than a standard stand bag.

The Cobra Ultralight Sunday bag has a three-way top organizer and an easy-to-grip top handle.

Your clubs will remain slightly separated, ensuring less overall damage to them.

The bag comes in a few different colors, and it even has a mesh beverage pocket.

For those that have just started walking the course or know they need to change their exercise route a bit, this bag is a great way to help you get it done.

Pros

  • 3 Way top with full-length dividers
  • Large apparel pockets
  • Strong stand
  • It could fit about 10 clubs without much trouble
  • It comes in a few different colors

Cons

  • Slightly heavier than other golf bags on our list

Best Sunday Golf Bag For Beginners: Champkey Lightweight Sunday Bag

Champkey Lightweight golf bag

Key Features

  • Weighs 1.95 pounds
  • 5 pockets
  • Great value

The Sunday golf bag is designed for golfers to play a few holes and not worry about trekking all of their gear around.

However, there are other solutions for Sunday golf bags, especially for the beginner.

Beginners tend to hit many clubs of the same exact length. This makes it unnecessary to carry 14 clubs in the bag.

The solution here is to consider a smaller golf bag that holds just the clubs that a beginner needs.

Most players will need about 6-9 clubs, and the Champkey Lightweight Sunday Bag will hold just that.

The total bag weight is 1.95 pounds, and it has five total pockets for extra storage.

Accessories are easy to organize and store, and they won’t all be jumbled into one pocket. The bag has a stand, and as long as you don’t overstuff the golf bag, we found that the stand was fine.

Overall, Champkey is a value-based brand, but some of their products have come across our radar recently, and they have held up really well.

Pros

  • Very lightweight
  • Holds 6-9 clubs easily
  • A perfect affordable option for the beginner golfers
  • 5 total storage pockets

Cons

  • Not the best Sunday golf bag for longevity or durability

What To Look For In A Sunday Golf Bag

Now that you know which Sunday golf bags are the best on the market, it’s good to start looking into which of these could be the right fit for your game.

There are a few critical questions to ask yourself before deciding which bag is the best for your game.

Number of Clubs

Sunday golf bags are not meant to hold 14 clubs; in fact, you will notice that the bag will break apart if you try to do this.

Sunday golf bags typically hold 6-9 clubs.

A few options on our list could hold 10, but this is not typically the case.

Trust us on this one, as we tested these products first hand, do not try and put more than the recommended amount of clubs in your Sunday bag; you will be shopping for another bag after just a few rounds!

Stand vs. No Stand

Some Sunday golf bags have stands, and others do not.

When the concept of the Sunday bag first came to market, it was meant to be more of a carry bag with no stand.

Setting the clubs down in the wet grass all the time became a bit of an issue; therefore, the stand was developed.

These stands are great as they keep the bags and the clubs dry; the only major issue with the stands is that they will collapse and snap if you overload the bag.

Storage and Pockets

The storage and pockets on a Sunday golf bag are limited.

Don’t expect to have the same organization and features that you will find on a large golf cart bag.

Space is limited, so a few small pockets are all you can count on.

We really liked the golf bags that gave us a spot to put a water bottle; this is a great consideration when walking the golf course.

Sunday golf bags force you to condense your accessories, but this is not bad.

Club Dividers

Club dividers, especially full-length dividers, ensure that your golf clubs are protected and protected from harm.

A Sunday golf bag is typically much smaller at the top and will only be able to have one or two dividers.

However, any separation between clubs you can get is well worth it.

The club dividers really only need to give you a top and a bottom section to make sense and do the job they should.

Strap and Carry Handles

sunday golf bag carry handles

Sometimes a Sunday golf bag will have a strap that helps make it easier to carry other times, it will have a double backpack type strap.

Overall you have to consider how far you plan to walk with the bag to determine which strap or carry handle will be the best.

The strap won’t make too much of a difference for playing a pitch and putt or heading to a golf course driving range.

However, if you plan on walking a good portion of the course, the strap must be comfortable and allow the bag to sit correctly on your shoulder.

Overall Weight

The overall weight of a Sunday bag is usually around two pounds. Some of these golf bags we tested were right at one pound.

Most of the lightweight stand bags you find on the market are three to six pounds, so the Sunday bag is considerably lighter.

The more weight you add to the bag, the more storage it will have and the more features it will add.

However, this is really not always the point for a Sunday bag. When you start adding a bit too much, the bag becomes more like a traditional stand bag.

Longevity/Durability

Sunday golf bags are typically the lowest-priced golf bags on the market.

Although this is typically thought of as a positive, make sure you choose a bag that will hold up over time.

Sunday golf bags are meant more for occasional use, and to provide a solution, don’t expect this to be the best golf bag for everyday play.

The stand Sunday bags tend to last a little longer as they have a way of keeping themselves up out of the wet grass.
