Hands On With The Callaway Superhot Golf Ball in 2022

The Callaway Superhot is a new golf ball from Callaway that has been getting a lot of attention lately. It is designed to give you more distance and less spin-off the tee, resulting in longer drives.

But does it work? I decided to put it to the test and compare it with some of the other golf balls I have been using.

This review will take a closer look at the Callaway Superhot golf ball, which lives up to its reputation.

July 2022 Update:

As golf ball manufacturers change and update their lineup, older versions may go out of stock. The previous generation of the Callaway Superhot golf ball (Superhot 55) is no longer being made by Callaway.

You can still find the Superhot Golf Ball here.

The box does not label their compression rating, so know that the newest generation has a compression of 70.

How The Callaway Superhot Golf Ball Performed

I was able to test the Callaway Superhot golf ball on a few different occasions. Here are my findings:

The Feel

Feel is very important to me when it comes to a golf ball. I want a ball that feels good coming off the clubface and has a soft feel around the greens.

The Callaway Superhot golf ball did not disappoint in this department. It had a very solid feel of the driver and iron shots, which I liked.

And it also had a soft feel around the greens, which dramatically improved the greenside feel, a great bonus.

The Verdict: The Callaway Superhot golf ball gets high marks for feel. It’s a definite improvement over some of the other golf balls I’ve played in the past. In addition, the feel is significantly improved.

The Distance

Callaway Superhot review with orange number

Now, let’s talk about distance. Callaway claims that the Superhot golf ball will add yards to your drives. The Callaway Superhot Golf Ball is a distance ball.

It is designed to fly farther than other golf balls on the market.

And, I have to say that it lived up to the hype. I hit the ball noticeably further with the Superhot than I did with my other golf balls. It wasn’t a night-and-day difference, but it was definitely there.

The Verdict: The Callaway Superhot golf ball delivers on its promise of added distance. If you’re looking for a little more yardage off the tee, then this is the ball for you.

The Spin

As I mentioned earlier, the Callaway Superhot golf ball has been designed for players who want less spin.

See here.

The ball’s aerodynamics have been designed to promote less spin, which in theory should result in longer drives.

The lower spin should enable the ball the roll a long distance when it hits the ground. In addition, the greenside spin should also be reduced, which will help you hold the greens more.

The Verdict: The Callaway Superhot golf ball did reduce the spin on my drives. The greenside spin was reduced as well. I was still getting a fair roll after the ball hit the ground.

Compression

The Callaway Superhot golf ball has a compression of 70 and 55. The higher compression will give you more distance off the tee, while the lower compression will help with your control around the green.

The Verdict: I found that the Callaway Superhot golf ball had a good balance of distance and control. If you’re looking for a ball that has a good mix of both, then this is it.

  1. How do you tell the difference between the Callaway Superhot 55 and the Superhot 70balls? There is nothing on the box indicating which one is inside.

    • Hi James,

Thanks for reaching out. I did some digging and it appears Callaway is no longer making the Superhot Golf ball. They still do sell them on Amazon here.

While the box does not say whether or not they are a 55 or 70, after some research I realized these newer Callaway Superhot Bold golf balls have a compression of 70, which is the major difference between the 55 and 70.

      Does that make sense?

      Jake
